3 steps into beautiful lips
What is the secret to beautiful lips?
Here 3 tips that will help you to make sure your lips always look at their best!
Quite often people ask me what to do for dry chipped lips. And when I say that they need to drink more water, they reply saying, <Oh yes, I drink enough water!!>. The answer is very simple, if you have dry chipped lips it means that you have not drunk enough water at least on that day. And with “not enough” I mean depending on what you have been doing on the day.
Lips and brain are the first to suffer when there is not enough water reserve in your body, so you can get headache and chipped lips often at the same time.Think air conditioning and heating in your office, in the shopping centre, in your home, in your car. You are busy, you go around multitasking, and then you realise that your lips are sore!
Ok here your 3 easy steps:
1. Hydrate. Immediately drink 2 glasses of water, I always advise bottled water, so you can choose the mineral content, preferably glass bottle rather than plastic. Filtered water is OK but please keep in mind that you still get pesticides, chlorine and other stuff in your tap water, so it is not the healthier choice. Your body needs at least 2 litres of water per day, and more in the summer or in hot climates. The body continuously evaporates, even when you are not sweating, so if you are exposed to heating, air conditioning or if you regularly exercise and sweat, you need to drink more! After a few minutes your lips will start to get a bit better already.
2. Deeply moisturize. As soon as you get home apply a generous dose of Balm on your lips and massage for 2-3 minutes. No rush, the balm needs to be absorbed to replenish your lips. We like our Bellissima Balm because it’s rich in antioxidants, vitamins and Omegas that deeply nurture your skin, this is suitable for your lips too! Continue to massage.
3. Gently exfoliate. Once the balm is absorbed, take a face cloth (preferably organic cotton face cloth because it is natural fibre, and it does not contain pesticides, which would be absorbed into your skin), use a corner and immerse it in water (again better bottled or filtered water!). With your index finger over the cloth, start passing it over your lips. Use a gentle movement, from left to right and from right to left. Repeat several times, at least another 3 minutes. Do not use too much pressure, you don’t want to hurt yourself, you are just gently exfoliating. The Balm left on your lips will further penetrate into your skin and the excess removed, the lips are getting softer and any chipped skin will lift and be gently removed by the face cloth. This is gentle exfoliation and deep moisturization, so give it those well-deserved 3 minutes, continue to massage and be patient. You can check yourself in the mirror, to make sure you are doing it right.
Remember that it is very important that you drink the 2 glasses of water (step 1), so meanwhile your body starts rehydrating from the inside, then you have waited for a few minutes and proceed with step 2 and step 3.
